Every winter we get calls from homeowners who want windows installed in January or February. We usually recommend waiting — and here’s why.

The problem with extreme cold

Caulk and sealant don’t cure properly below 40°F. Vinyl frames become brittle and can crack during handling. And opening up a wall when it’s 15° outside creates a condensation risk that can lead to mold down the line.

When we make exceptions

If the existing window is broken or creating a safety issue, we’ll find a way to make it work. But for planned replacements, scheduling for March or April gets you a better result at the same price.
